Hey, been listening to celldweller's new album, specifically the song The Seven Sisters, and started sculpting to that, trying to create a Greek statue look.
Funnily enough, I looked up some lore of the Pleiades, and one of the sisters, Merope, in one of the stories, became mortal and faded away, so somehow, (in my mind at least) a cracked statue fits for her.
Not trying to add any story or emotion to it, just trying to practice, and for a first effort of a human sculpt or any organic sculpt for that matter, I feel it came out alright.
Here's some zbrush screengrabs, probably going to render and light it soon.

Time and Fate and Misery
You know, at the beginning of this project a few months ago, I had a few grand ideas, nothing that amazing, just a grand idea with sentiment attached to it. Now, i'm at the end of the project, i've textured and re-textured, I've sat through renders, spotting what's in or out, obsessing over the slightest wrongs, ignoring the picture as a whole, now when I look at it from a distance, I can't say the end product is any good, I mean, don't get me wrong, I learnt a whole lot of new techniques during my construction of this scene, I even learnt Zbrush from scratch to get a few of the details in the butterfly I created.
It's just, in the end, it doesn't look good, perhaps it can be my lack of knowledge of how to use colours properly, perhaps it's just something that doesn't fit that I can't find, but the picture has a few ups and downs, but whatever it is at the moment, that's the end of it, I've opted not to spend the next month obsessing and getting depressed over a picture that won't work, in the end I can say that I learnt a lot, but I still have a lot to go, funny, really, I thought i'd achieved quite a lot in the time since I started 3d work last year, but it seems I still have a very long way to go before I achieve the ability to bring to life the ideas I can put down on paper.
I just wanted to also thank a few friends of mine for the input and help, especially Brandon and Kavilan Naidoo for taking care of the interior modelling, while I worked on materials and lighting. You guys made this entire project work, you guys are awesome.
Well, here's the end product, like it or hate it, it is what it is.
See you for the next project I guess.

Time and Fate 1
Hey there! It's been awhile since i've updated, made a whole bunch of progress with the scene, I got help from a few mates of mine, really good modellers, and we've been working on the interior, I'm currently rendering a scene that is about 80% done with textures and lights, i'll post that as soon as the render is done, but here is the general look and the AO passes of the scene itself. Hope ya like it.

Small update #3
Small update as I haven't been around for awhile, got some awesome skill aboard to help me with the modelling while I take care of the rest scene. Should be a whole lot of new stuff incoming, but for now, here's some legs. Rendered out a new joint section I sculpted but I didn't save the render. so just keep an eye out next time.

Butterfly Final
This is the last time for awhile that i'm going to be working on the butterfly, starting to resent the project, sculpted it to be less symmetrical and more beaten-up. That's where i'm going to leave it. Been receiving a lot of helpful advice from people, but in the end, it also takes skill to know when to stop a project.
I'll be moving on to the interior from tomorrow.
Inserted the two versions (Shiny and what i've dubbed post apocalyptic.)

Troubleshooting
Good evening,
Up late working, resculpting the butterfly / dragonfly hybrid ornament, had some difficulties that made me have to come back and do it again, so this is a word to the wise, so no one makes the same noob mistake.
Within Zbrush I was working and imported my mesh, by a combination of accident / habit and sucky tutorial videos I pressed Make polymesh 3d, which so far as I have been able to deduce, destroys any pre-made UVS, so that meant that my work in headus was all for naught, and it turned my mesh into something horrible that yous aw in the previous wips, so here's a quick update of progress, the first is my uvs that I created, nothing fancy, second is the destroyed uvs and the planar tiling from when I tried to save it, and the third is just a screenie of what it looks like at the moment.

Greetings once more.
Good evening ladies and gentlemen.
I'm back in the new year, and I hope you had a chance to rest during the festive period.
I've been going along with illustrating with pen, a fun but at the same time terrifying change as I can't erase anything, ah well, it's fun nonetheless.
I haven't admittedly modelled anything in 3d for quite some time. Buuuut there are some fun fun things underway, and I'm going back to a project I never had the skill to finish.
Sadly though, nothing may appear for a while in 3D... but I have a very muggy, dark and blurred photo of illustrations in so far, preparing for the modelling stage, trying to get a solid design down, focusing on form rather than details, A very close friend of mine who is a brilliant illustrator gladly allowed me to bounce ideas off of him, and so began a back and forth design between us and we're on to something here.
For those who know me personally (Aka Learn3d) The illustrations may seem familiar, and bordering on unhealthy obsession.
The scene itself is to be an animation the storyboard is underway but if time becomes to short I may settle for a still shot, and it will definitely take some time to put together, it is an old scene that I as I mentioned I never had the skill to finish, (Actually I didn't have the ability to start it in all honesty.), Short said it's to be extremely detailed in regards to the interior and the butterfly.
I hope that if you find this interesting that you will drop by from time to time, and thanks for sticking around for the past year, let's have a good start to this one.
